These so-called Ishidōhyō (石道標) are slightly placed in the ground and feature carved text from top to bottom. These texts can refer to various topics. It can for example tell directions or be a description of a location. Next to this, the posts often feature a more poetic text.
The text on the front of this Ishidōhyō is very old, and hard to decipher. According to our Japanese contacts the last three characters are: 我不功. But the exact meaning remains a mystery.
